Arkaan-E-Hajj (Rituals of The Hajj)

Hajj is the most significant pilgrimage of Muslims and also is the fifth pillar of Islam religion. Hajj can be undertaken only from 8th to 13th of Dhu al-Hajj ( Zil Hajj ), but the Lesser pilgrimage called Umrah can be undertaken at all other times of the year. Main rituals of Hajj are followings:

Ihram in Miqaat:

To enter the state of ihram is the first step of Hajj pilgrimage in which he dresses up a white dress called Ihraam. Pilgrim has to recite an intention to perform hajj called the Talabiya.

Circumambulation:

Tawaf e Kaaba, which is called circumambulation, is compulsory for the completion of Hajj. It is performed seven times around the Kaaba in anti-clockwise, the circle starts from the corner in which Black Stone is embedded.

Sa’ey:

To traverse the distance between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times, this is called Sa’ey. The term Sa’ey in Arabic means to walk or move quickly.

Muzdalifah:

After descending from Arafat, pilgrims arrive at the open land of Muzdalifah. People are required to perform Maghrib and Isha prayers here. It is considered the best place to collect pebbles (Kankariyan) for Ramy al-Jamarat.

Mount Arafat:

After the dawn prayers in Mina, pilgrims start their journey to the desert of Arafat. It is the “most important day of hajj” Muslims spend the day of Arafat in the vicinity of the mountain, Pray to GOD.

Eid al-Adha:

The Eid al-Adha festival is celebrated by Muslims who are not on pilgrimage by slaughtering animals to mark Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail upon the order of GOD.
